Current and Recent Reading
And Then, by Soseki Natsume
Not a bad book, but not thrilling. I enjoyed reading it, and liked the language, but I didn't really feel anything for any of the characters.
The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, by
Murakami Haruki
Weird book. I still don't know what I thought of it. I felt swept along through it and enjoyed reading
it, but I'm not sure what I got out of it. Maybe I felt a bit abandoned at the end. I'd still say it's
worth reading. I'm sure I'll read more by this guy.
The Japanese Mind, edited by Roger Davies and Osamu Ikeno
This book is a bit simplistic, but it's a good thought starter. I'm enjoying the course I'm reading it
for, where I talk to Japanese students about Japanese culture in English. The book is written by previous
students of the same course and edited by the professor.
All-time Favorites
The Oxford American Dictionary
Simply the best. Oxford can't be beat for dictionaries. Tons of usage examples, up to date with regards
to linguistic theory, well organized for easy understanding. My bible. If you prefer British English,
go for the OED.
